About the Host Group

The Rainbow and Greens Japan was officially established in 1998, mainly by independent local politicians (city councillors and prefectural MPs) and mayors who were pursuing green politics. It has continuously been involved in local politics as well as national politics since then in order to establish an alternative green political order in Japan. It has also been actively involved in the worldwide green network, having participated in the Brisbane APG meeting in 2000 and the Global Greens Conference in 2001, Canberra, Australia.
